James 5:19-20 ESV

My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

How important is correcting and bringing back a brother who wandered from the truth? That is among the most glorious deed. In doing so, we have saved his soul from death, and covered a multitude of sins. Anything worthy more than that?

Therefore, we must do this whenever the opportunity arises. But we must do it with gentle and meekness and brotherly concern, not with a holier than thou - you are sinning attitude. We must correct him in private, with another brother, with the elders... not a public rebuke.
